Music:

I like the classical overtones of this track. There is a great sensation of tension or expectation created by the keyboards. The problem is that there is no accompanying sense of release or fulfillment of expectation. This is usually accomplished by a chorus. In hip-hop there is usually a signature phrase that answers some of the questions and issues raised by the verse raps. 7 out of 10

Lyrics:

As much as the profanity free appeals to me, it still seems that hip-hop has come to a content stop. Almost every track I hear is nothing but brag and after a while, my ears start to sag. So keep on keepin' on, as my momma used to say, but think about the world, then let the words play. 7 out of 10

Arrangement & Production:

Apart from the fact that there is no section of the track that functions as a chorus, you have an interesting arrangement. The keyboards are complex and sophisticated. The drums are undermixed but sound good and are sparse but flowing. The bass part is not driving the track enough and the lack of any contrasting sound to all the keyboards, like percussion or guitar, keeps the track a little dull. 7 out 10

Lead Vocal:

There is a lot of flow flowin' here and you make it sound easy. The overlapping voices add to the sophisticated sound that the classical chords create. Still, the overall effect is not as exciting as it could be. The repetition of the same rhyming scheme, as well as the lack of contrasting parts in the instruments make this track get boring. The same problem exists in the vocal, but is due to the construction of the track, not a lack of skill in rapping. 8 out of 10

Musicianship:

There are some very sophisticated moments, especially in the keyboards and the wordplay. The problem is that there is no balance to the predominant rhythmic and harmonic elements in the track. Part of musicianship is creating the tension and subsequent release that is the key in constructing any style of music. 7 out of 10

Originality:

Although your voice and wordflow are strong, this sounds like a lot of tracks I hear; heavy on your strengths, but light on your weaknesses. So, as a keyboard player and rapper you have laid down some strong work. But as a producer and composer, you need to broaden the arrangement and rework the track so there is a hook to make the listener come back around and start re-grooving with each verse. 6 out of 10

Marketability:

Your skills as a rapper will get you some attention, but there are so many rappers out there with decent home studios that you will get swallowed up in the flood if you don't focus on making a stronger rhythm track, get some contrast in the rhythm and add a hook that is more memorable than the one you have now. 7 out of 10

**General Comments?**:

Your vocal skills are excellent, but perhaps you need a collaborator to broaden the appeal of your track. Listening to the hits will give you some clues as to what you need to alter to get in the industry groove. Don't be afraid to be self-critical; it's what separates the hit makers from the wannabes.
